Whispers of the universe

 

When it comes to asking and receiving, it is oh so important to stay open to the signs that are given to you, and the gut feelings pulling at you.

You see, when the universe wants to deliver something (that something being whatever you’ve asked for earlier on), it often does so by giving you signs or hints, or by causing a gut feeling in you, making sure you are at a certain place at a certain time.

So that’s why you should always stay open to the possibility that whatever you’re feeling in your gut, is a sign you should act upon, because it might just be a package waiting for you at the other end.

Let me give you an example:

Last week, I was thinking a lot about what I want to do, and what I want out of life. And I figured it out – I thought, I want to help people. That’s all I want, I want to help. And how hard can that be? So I sent it out there, not considering it much more for the day.

Until I went for a walk…

I passed by the supermarket on my way home to get some things for dinner. Now, the normal way to and from the supermarket would be along a straight road, and it takes about 20 minutes. But that specific day, I came up to a side road, and my gut feeling told me I should walk that way – even though it’s a detour of an extra 10 minutes or so.

With the food in my hands, I almost didn’t act upon this hint, but then I thought, what the heck, I’ll get an extra long walk, and it was a beautiful afternoon, anyway.

As I got to the end corner of that road, I found a wallet on the ground. It was pretty old and worn, but it had credit cards and money in it, and I also found a pensioners card. I felt so bad for the old man who’d lost his wallet, so I started looking for a phone number or an address. I found a scrunched up medical prescription with his address, and it turned out to be just around the corner.

I hoped he would be at home, as I rang the doorbell. The old man looked a bit confused when I introduced myself and told him I’d found his wallet on the ground.

“Oh… I always lose that darn wallet!” he said, arms flung out.

“Well, you need to find a better pocket for it then,” I told him and he laughed.

We had a chat for a while (because I love old people). He was so grateful for the fact that I had returned it to him and wanted to give me something, but I refused to take it. I told him I just needed and wanted to do a good deed. He was so in awe over this.

“You are the most beautiful angel I’ve ever met – after my late wife!” he said.

So now I have a standing invitation for dinner or for “anything I could possibly need”, by a little old Greek man down the road.

This story just goes to show, that if you act upon the signs and hints that are given to you, the universe will do everything it can to deliver what you have asked for. Just stay open minded, and be willing to see the little things out of the ordinary!

I asked to help people, and that’s exactly what I got to do – if yet something so small as to return a lost wallet. But to the old man, it meant everything.

So thank you, Universe, I said. Thank you for providing me with the right signs.
