This is something I have to remind myself of constantly. When it comes to expressing ourselves and being true to who we are, most of us struggle at some point or another – some of us more often than others. And it’s only natural, really – we want to fit in, be normal, be loved, and all of that.
But isn’t it true what Dr. Seuss once so wisely said? That the ones who mind what we say or do actually don’t matter – because why would we want them in our lives if we can’t be true to ourselves around them? The only people you do want to surround yourself with are the ones who don’t mind in what ways you express yourself – they see you for who you are, love you unconditionally, and know that you are beautiful in every way.
So stay true to who you are. You are the most important person in your life! This is your life and no one else’s!
Let your feet carry you where your heart desires. Forget about the nay-sayers and trust the people who actually care and want good things for you.
What kind of people do you want in your life? And are they really the ones closest to you?Â
Endless love,
Excellent post !, I agree that it is important to surround yourself with supportive like-minded people. Sometimes this is not always possible. Being part of an online community that is supportive is a blessing.
Thank-you Jo đŸ™‚

You are so right – sometimes it’s hard to choose what people are in our close vicinity. And yes, that’s when we need to find good people in other ways – like online communities, for example – to boost our energies when we need it đŸ™‚
Thank YOU, Dave!

Nice quote. Agreed wholeheartedly. At times I feel it is easier said than done.
Thanks for the reminder!

It absolutely is! Some people seem to stay in our lives no matter what we do, just putting us down. If we can find even just a small group of people to make it all feel worthwhile, though, I think that would cut it too đŸ™‚

Seuss could not have summed it up better than this precisely worded statement. Ultimately, life’s fulfilment dwells in our mattering to people who matter to us.

Also, happy Halloween Jo. Keep shining even as nature starts to adorn herself in dark wintry attire.

Absolutely – and isn’t that quite beautiful in a way, come to think of it? đŸ™‚ we’re all dependant on and connected to each other.
Happy Halloween to you as well! Enjoy the lovely time that autumn is, with its beautiful colours and the crisp feel in the air! Here in Australia were moving towards summer time (I’m still not used to October being a warm month, being born and raised in Sweden!), but there’s something amazing about all times of the year!

Although it appears too late to reply but would love to comment. You have described it very well that people who accept us the way we are without being judgemental are actually the people who should matter to us the most!:)
